Tyson’s new feed mill dedicated

FULTON – Tyson Foods new $75 million dollar state of the art poultry feed mill was formally dedicated this morning with a ribbon cutting on Highway 195 between Cross Roads and Fulton. The Hempstead County Economic Development Corporation, Hope-Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce, Hempstead County, City of Hope, and Tyson officials formally cut the ribbon and toured the new facility.

Complex Manager Randy King welcomed the guests and explained the new mega-mill will has taken the place of older feed mills in Hope and Nashville and will allow the company to expand grower operations in the region once a new hatchery is built.

Steve Harris, president of the HCEDC said this “was a proud day for Hempstead County and Hope,” and noted the investments and expansion to the local economy.

Hempstead County Judge Jerry Crane pointed to a banner at the dedication that noted “Tyson Feeds the Nation,” and said this latest investment will “see Hempstead County grow.”

Hope Mayor Don Still thanked Tyson for their investment in the region.

Nathan McKay, Tyson Vice President of Operations, and a former resident of Hope that worked at their Hope operations for about four years, lauded the “great team that’s going to manage the mill and expressed the company’s appreciation for the community support.”

A new hatchery under construction adjacent to the current one in Hope is expected to be in operation in the latter part of 2024 and will be one of the largest hatcheries in operation, with the feed mill currently the largest one in the Tyson company. The operation employs approximately 61 workers.
