The Hope Lions Club heard from Hope Parks Recreation Director Melanie Griffith on Monday.  Griffith gave details on the summer program the park has for kids 5 to 12.  She noted they use the pool on Thursday morning and on Tuesdays have different groups come in to give programs including the Hope Police, Hope Fire Department, and Arkansas Game & Fish.

Griffith says they have had a successful baseball and softball season.  She notes they are working on bringing in more tournaments and that two youth directors from Texarkana want to rent the facilities as well.

The Fair Park swimming pool has been running smoothly this year says Griffith.  The pool is open Monday through Friday noon to 5pm, noon to 6pm on Saturday.  She notes admission is $5 for adults and $3 for youth under 18.  Also new this year, youth under 8 must be accompanied by an adult 18 or older.  The pool is also available for rent in the evenings for private parties.  Water aerobics are offered Monday through Friday 9am until 10am.  The pool started the season off attracting as many as 130 patrons per day.

Griffith noted more lights have been added at North Side Park and electrical improvements have been completed at Fair Park.  She also said the park is hoping to get some $20,000 grants for improving the ball fields.
