WASHINGTON — Historic Washington State Park will host Community Life of the Past Day Camp for children ages 6-12 on August 1-5, 2022. The camp takes place from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will provide a look at some of the daily activities of early residents within the community of Washington, Arkansas.

Campers will participate in some of the same real-life activities of their 19th-century counterparts who lived in Washington. Hands-on and interpretive activities will take place daily, including learning the basics of the printing press, the art of the blacksmith trade, the essentials of 19th-century games and the tasks needed to care for the community’s working animals.

The Historic Washington State Park Community Life of the Past Day Camp will transport today’s students back to 19th-century Arkansas through experiences that illustrate how vital this sense of place was to early Arkansans.

Cost for attendance to the day camp is $125 and includes all supplies and a daily lunch. Registration must be made by Friday, July 29. Contact the Historic Washington State Park Visitor Center at 870-983-2684 to register your child.
