Sheriff James Singleton and Sgt. Michel Braddock present Deputies Marla Gullion and Eric Garner with a Sheriff’s Commendation for actions in responding to a recent call of an armed Sex Offender.

 To: Deputies Eric Garner & Marla Gullion,

 It is with great pleasure that I write this letter to Commend you on your actions on July 27, 2022 on dealing with an armed Sex Offender on Hempstead County Road 49 in Fulton, Arkansas. Your actions brought a very dangerous and volatile situation to a peaceful resolution without any injuries to other officers or the suspect.

 It was apparent that the suspect wanted to cause an incident to which you would be forced to use deadly force, however both of you were able to take the time to use you verbal skills and training to talk the suspect for approximately 30 minutes into surrendering the weapon and take him into custody without using deadly force. That is a testament to your professionalism and brings great credit to both of you as a Law Enforcement Officer.
