Potlatch packed for pageants

PRESCOTT – Saturday was pageant day for the final day of the Nevada County Fair.

The Potlatch Building was packed for the morning and afternoon events. There were nine categories in all, not counting the talent show, ranging from infant miss to fair queen.

Two contestants were entered in the infant miss category, with Winter Eason taking the crown and Mylee Adams first runner-up. Eason also was named most photogenic, while Adams was touted as being best dressed.

Lynlee Clark took the crown in the baby miss division, with Brynlee Almand the first runner up. Clark was also named most photogenic and best dressed.

In the tiny miss group, Julianna Williams was the only entry, winning best dressed and the title.

Two were in the little miss class, with Harper McMahan taking the crown and being named best dressed and most photogenic. Jocelynn Lewis was first runner-up.

The petite group had four contestants, with Kenzylee Lester taking the title. She was also named best dressed and most photogenic. Ava Gulley was the first runner-up. Kalli Lewis and Jamilyah Loudermill also competed.

The morning pageants came to an end with the young miss event, with Brinley Harris the lone entry. She took the crown and was named best dressed and most photogenic.

The evening portion kicked off with the Debutante competition, which had four entries. Mari Wren took the crown, along with best dressed and most photogenic. Karlie White was named first runner-up. Addie Riddling and Felicity McKenzie also competed.

Next up was junior miss, also with four hopefuls. Kyla Joseph earned the crown, along with being the interview winner, named best dressed and the winner of the Paula Ledbetter Award. Blair Ratcliff was named most photogenic and first runner-up. Mya and Mia Huddleston competed as well. The girls competed in formal and athletic wear.

Five were entered in the queen competition, but it turned into a two-horse race between Kendall Sands and Brooke Burton. The senior contestants competed in formal and athletic wear. When all was said and done, Sands was named queen, taking most photogenic, active wear winner and winning the interview portion. Burton was first runner-up and also named best dressed, the Ledbetter award winner and overall most photogenic. Others in the competition were: Essence Thomas, Jada Purifoy and Meredith Jones.

There was a trio of entries in the talent show, all in different categories. Declan Drake won junior vocal solo for his rendition of “Feeling Good”, while Bailey Laughard won vocal solo with “Yours” and Zoe Fincher won the senior variety division with her performance of “Rainbow”.

At the end of the pageants, the People’s Choice Award went to Lynlee Clark, baby miss.
