PRESCOTT – There will be no mass flu clinic this year.

However, in its place the Arkansas Department of Health will be holding statewide community flu clinics. All clinics will be on Sept. 27 this year. In Prescott, the community flu clinic will be held at the Nevada County Fairgrounds from 7:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. Weather permitting, this will be a drive-through clinic, otherwise, vaccinations will be given inside the Potlatch Building.

As always, there is no out of pocket expense for the flu shots. Those with insurance need to bring their insurance or Medicare cards.

According to Nevada County Health Unit Administrator Debbie Henderson, the Prescott school flu clinic will be held on Oct. 4 in the elementary school activity center, while the Nevada school clinic will be Oct. 6 in the school library. Following the Nevada school clinic, she said, the NCHU will have a community flu clinic in Rosston from 1-5 p.m. in the Nevada school library.

During Tuesday’s Rotary meeting, Dr. Mike Young urged everyone to get their flu shot this year, and to get a COVID booster as well. He told the Rotarians there have already been positive cases of the flu in Nevada County.

This year’s vaccine will again be a quadravalient, with antibodies from four different strains of the flu.
