HOPE – The Hope Police Department will unite with Arkansas Law Enforcement agencies in a distracted driving campaign, ‘U Drive. U Text. U Pay” initiative aimed at stopping the dangerous practice of distracted driving.  Starting October 17- 23, 2022, Hope Law Enforcement officers will increase patrol efforts to stop distracted drivers who are texting and talking on the phone while driving.

One of the leading factors contributing to the epidemic of distracted driving is the simultaneous use of cell phones and other electronic devices to communicate while driving. The biggest distraction while driving is offenders who are using their cell phones to talk, text, or scroll through social media while they’re supposed to be in control of their vehicle.

“We want to get the message out that beginning October 17, 2022, officers of the Hope Police Department will be writing citations to anyone caught texting and driving,” said Assistant Chief Tomlin.
