PRESCOTT – Pearl Bailey’s social studies class at Prescott Junior High observed Constitution Day, September 17, 1787, and Constitution Week, September 17 -23.

This is an annual event that is observed by the United States of America and is set aside for most students in U.S. social studies. Our students observed Constitution week by celebrating the 235th anniversary of the signing of this document. They analyzed the Preamble of the Constitution and recited it in class, individually or with a classmate. They discussed and examined the first three articles to the Constitution which established the Legislative, Executive and the Judicial Branches.

Special thanks to the local Benjamin Culp Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution for donating U.S. flag pins, summary sheets of the Constitution, booklets, and a poster to display in class. Eighth grade students will take an in-depth look at the Constitution later in the semester by studying all of the articles.
