Nashville, AR

Jessie Lee Dixon was born February 5, 1944 to Calvin Coolidge Dixon and Catherine Norwood Stuart-Dixon in Columbus, Arkansas.  His parents and grandparents preceded him in death, Nora Dixon, Sanford Dixon, Cage Stuart, Ella Green-Stuart.

He joined church at an early age at Rising Star Baptist Church, under the leadership of Rev. Simms in Hosston, Louisiana.  After returning to Arkansas, he united with St. Luke CME Church in Ozan, Arkansas.

He graduated from Clow High School in 1964.  He was talented with his hands.  He was a very skilled shade tree mechanic.  Jessie was an all-around handyman, who saved his family a lot of money with his handywork.  He would help anyone.  He would give them his last dime if they asked.

Although he was never married, he had one son, Rodney Bernard Hill.

In addition to his one son, Jessie has three grandchildren including, Rodney, Jr. and Rodrick Marshall of one brother, James Calvin Dixon; two sisters, Joe Ella Johnson and Lucita Jackson; one special cousin who cared for him, Fern Dixon and Johnny Dixon; a loving cousin who assisted in his care, Edward Earl Jefferson and a host of great-grandchildren and relatives.

God, being too wise to make a mistake, gently closed Jessie’s eyes and whispered, “Peace be Thine” as he transitioned from this earthly home to his eternal home on Thursday, October 6, 2022.   He will be deeply missed.
