Hempstead County Quorum Court

The Hempstead County Quorum Court met Thursday for their regular monthly meeting of October.  Following the prayer and pledge, the JP’s moved into the agenda items.  There was no old business.

Under new business, the JP’s approved five new ordinances.  They included :

2022-13 was an Ordinance transferring and appropriating funds from Jail Booking Fee to Jail Fund in the amount of $ 95,000.00 for Food, Fuel and Medicines.

2022-14 was an Ordinance establishing the ARPA Revenue Replacement Fund # 1006 as directed by Legislative Audit to track the ARPA Funds and better account for the expenditures.

2022-15 was an Ordinance transferring and appropriating funds from the ARPA Revenue Replacement Fund to Road Fund in the amount of $ 245,000.00 for Asphalt, Lease-Machinery & Equipment, and Gravel, Dirt and Sand.

2022-16 an Ordinance transferring and appropriating funds for a one-time Bonus from the ARPA Revenue Replacement Fund 1006 to various funds: County General, Jail, Road, CRCF, Library, Solid Waste, 911, Victim Witness, & RSAT plus Social Security Match.

2022-17 an Ordinance transferring and appropriating funds from Voluntary Deputy Tax Fund for Longevity Pay for Deputies in County General for $ 9,500.00; for Jail for $ 2,100.00 and for Judge Short’s Budget $ 500.00 plus Social Security Match.

Ms. Alice Adams, newly employed with CADC of Hope introduced herself. She just wanted to make everyone aware that she has some programs available that offer assistance for homes for energy efficiency. Contact her where SWADC used to be.

Sheriff James Singleton wanted to make the Quorum Court aware that his Medical portion of his Budget would be increasing due to his Jail Dr no longer being able to get malpractice insurance with our Risk Management Provider.

The meeting then adjourned.
