Hope-Hempstead NAACP branch election slated for Nov. 28 using online voting, Leadership aiming to advocate for laws and policies to improve Black community

As required by the constitution of the National Association of the Advancement of Colored People its units/branches hold elections every two years. The election for Hope-Hempstead branch 6012B is Monday, November 28, 2:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.
Per the NAACP National Office the election will be online only through electionbuddy.com. There will be no in-person voting nor mail-in voting. A secure ballot will be sent electronically to each eligible voter to the email or cell phone on file. Only one vote per email/phone number. Voting will go live at 2:00 p.m.
To vote in the election, a person must be a member in good standing thirty (30) days prior to the scheduled election — October 28 — and must use the Election Buddy system.

The officers of a branch include President, First Vice President, 2nd Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, Assistant  Treasurer. The positions on Unit 6012B’s Election Buddy ballot are Magigor Love, Treasurer, and Allen Flowers, 2nd Vice President. There are no candidates for President, First Vice President, Secretary, Assistant Secretary, or Assistant Treasurer. The vacant positions will be filled by appointment.

In December 2020, local community members Magigor Love, Margaret Moss and Leanita Muldrew rechartered Unit 6012B. Love, who is the daughter of Major White, Hempstead County Quorum court’s first Black Justice of the Peace, shared she was motivated to undertake the effort because of the need to organize for maximum impact on local civic actions. Unit 6012B is a part of the network of more than 2,200 units across the country working to protect and advance civil rights and social justice.
