Janis Matthews-Porterfield

Mrs. Janis Sue Matthews-Porterfield age 75 passed from this life on Tuesday, January 17, 2023, at Hospice Care Center of Hospice of Texarkana.

Ms. Matthews-Porterfield was a retired nurse, and caregiver to many residents within the Hope community. She was a devoted wife, a dedicated mother to her children, a loving grandmother, sister, aunt, and cousin. She believed in Jesus and lived a life of prayer. She was a devout member of New Life of Hope and deeply loved her Faith Family.

She was preceded in death by her beloved great grandson Wade Owen Whatley; her parents, Mr. James Woodrow Ladd and Mrs. Juanita Elizabeth England; two brothers Tim Frances Patton and Charles Ross Freemyer.

Those that remain to cherish her memory include her husband Kenneth Porterfield of Hope, Arkansas; daughter Malissa Murray (Bill) of DeKalb Texas; daughter Marla Matthews of Texarkana, Texas; and son Robby Matthews, of Hope, Arkansas; John Wesley Matthews of Magnolia, Arkansas; and a devoted brother Jimmie Ladd (Katie) of Plumerville, Arkansas.

Grandchildren: John David Holt, Heather Michelle Langston (Matt), Emily Nichole Whatley (Matt), Brandon Chase Hall (Melissa), and Rachel Catherine Taylor.

Great Grandchildren: Logan Alan Langston, Raylee Rain Whatley, Hannah Marie Hall, Chloe Nichole Hall, Braxton Chase Hall. Amelia Kay McCloud, and many cherished family members and friends.

Pallbearers: Jimmie Ladd, Bill Murray, Matt Langston, Logan Langston, Matt Whatley, and John Wesley Matthews

The Family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. William Bennett, MD and the staff of Texarkana Hospice, and Heather Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation, for their care.

Visitation will be 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Saturday January 21, 2023, at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest 1001 South Main St. Hope, Arkansas 71801

Funeral service will be 2:00pm on Saturday January 21, 2023, at BRAZZEL/Oakcrest with Bro. Matt Pagels Bro. Casey Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Macedonia Cemetery, Patmos.
