Janice Denise Ellis-Thomas was born to Mary Helen and Charles Ray Ellis Sr. on Sunday, October 22, 1972 in Bradley, Arkansas. Janice graduated from Bradley High School with the Class of 1991.
She then moved to Hope, AR and enrolled at the University of Arkansas Community College Hope-Texarkana where she received a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) license. She attended Texarkana College for her Pharmacy Technician license as well.
Janice later met and married Pastor Darryl W. Thomas. They lived in the Netherlands for a few years before moving to Fort Sill, Oklahoma where he retired from United States Army. She eventually returned to Hope, AR where she took on the role of a CNA at Heather Manor Nursing & Rehabilitation. She also started a job at Hampton Inn Hotel.
Janice loved her family, friends, and having fun with her son and grandbaby. She devoted much of her time and energy encouraging her family to keep going, to stay strong, and to pray about everything. Janice went on to be with the Lord on Wednesday, March 8, 2023. She will remain in our hearts forever.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Mary Helen Ellis.
Janice Denise Ellis-Thomas is survived by: husband, Pastor Darryl Thomas of Fulton, AR; son, Donte Montrez Corral Ellis of Hope, AR; granddaughter, Nevah Marie Ellis of Hope, AR; father, Charles Ellis Sr. of Hope, AR; 2 brothers, Emanuel Ellis of Plain Dealing, Louisiana and Charles (Beverly) Ellis Jr. of Texarkana, Texas; 4 sisters, Teresa (Jerry) Rollins of Hope, AR, Marilyn Ellis of Hope, AR, Cynthia Ellis of Texarkana, TX, and Marissa Ellis of Hope, AR; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, aunties, uncles, and cousins.
