Janie Lynn Kelly Franklin, age 75, of Cale, Arkansas, died Sunday September 10, 2023, in Shreveport, Louisiana. She was born December 4, 1947, in Arkadelphia, Arkansas, to the late John and Edna Mae Callaway Kelly. Ms. Franklin was preceded in death by her husband, Glyndon Franklin.

Janie grew up in Rosston and graduated from Prescott High School in 1965. She was employed as a secretary for the Nevada County Department of Human Services in Prescott. Later she served as secretary-bookkeeper for the Cale School District and was employed as secretary to the Nevada County Board of Education, working with all the school districts in the county. This position gave her the opportunity to assist people who needed to complete requirements for their GED certificate.

In the fall of 1998, Ms. Franklin was employed by the Arkansas State Police as Drivers Examiner with Troop G in Hope. During her seventeen-year career as drivers examiner, she administered drivers’ exams to students and adults in Hempstead, Columbia, Howard, Lafayette, and Nevada counties. She enjoyed working with citizens and parents of students, as they earned their drivers’ licenses and Commercial Drivers License.

In addition to her parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Robert (Bob) Kelly. Survivors include brother, Johnny Kelly of Rosston; nieces, Nicole (Isaac) Ruiz of Hope; Jamie (Shorty Cordero) Kelly of Mt. Ida; and sister in laws Shirley Singleton of Nacogdoches, Texas and Lynell (Joe) Henry of Nash, Texas; nieces, Shelly (J.D.) Norvell and Holly (Kurt) Findinsen of Nacogdoches, Texas; great nieces Jasmine Ruiz, Abby Morris, Rainna Cordero, and Madie Norvell; great-nephews Ty Tatum, Isaac Ruiz Jr., Dom Ruiz, Bo Morris, and Cason Findinsen.

Visitation will be held Tuesday September 12, 2023, from 5 PM to 7 PM at the Brazzel Oakcrest Chapel 1001 South Main St. Hope AR 71801. Funeral service will be Wednesday September 13, 2023, at 10:00 AM at Brazzel Oakcrest Chapel with burial to follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Rosston, AR.
