Fair in town

PRESCOTT – Fair time has arrived in Nevada County.

The midway is filled with games, rides and concession stands, while the exhibit buildings are full. Livestock is ready to be judged. Actually, the livestock judging was done Wednesday throughout the day, with the annual Premium Show and Sale set for Thursday. It will kick off at 5:30 with the buyer’s meal, followed by the premium sale at 6:30 p.m.

The carnival also opened Wednesday. Armbands are $20 each and good for that day only.

Saturday will be the big day with pageants and the rodeo. Pageants start at 10:30 a.m. with the infant, baby, tiny and little miss divisions, with the junior and miss interviews at 2:30, followed by the talent show and queen pageant. The queen pageants will feature, petite miss, young miss, debutante miss, junior miss and queen.

The rodeo is set to begin at 7 p.m. with trick riders on hand again this year. There will also be a mechanical bull outside the arena for youngsters to try riding.
