August Rainfall A Little Short in Hope But Rainfall Still Up for the Year

The rainfall in August was a little off from normal but the year-to-date rainfall received was still up for the year in Hope.

August rainfall was 2.38 inches with the normal being 3.04 inches meaning Hope was down .66 for the month.  The year-to-date rainfall is 43.33 inches compared to normal rainfall at the end of August of 34.90.  At the end of August, Hope was up 8.43 inches on rainfall.

August had some sweltering temperatures in Hope; however, the average air temperature was well below average.  The average normal air temperature is 81.10 degrees but the average for August was 72.77 degrees, a cooler difference of 8.33 degrees.

The high temperature for August was 103 degrees recorded on August 27th.  The month had two other days where the high was 100.  24 days had highs in the 90’s.  The low temperature for the month was 60 recorded on August 17th.
