Hope Quilters Guild Meets
The Hope Quilters Guild met at the Southwest Research and Extension Center Conference room on Monday (10-2). After a prayer, the meeting covered the previous minutes which mentioned how many quilts were made and the president having to step down. There will be a new election in November.
The president talked about the Country Store at the quilt show and who would run it. There were three who volunteered to run the Store. The Country Store is very popular with those who come to the show.
With setup taking place on Wednesday and judges arriving on Thursday, the show will be open to the public on Friday 13th and continue on the 14th. The goal is to have 130 quilts at the show which is 30 more than at the last show.
The show will have a memorial table for Wilma England, a long time member who made the most beautiful quilts. England recently passed away. Her quilts would always win a prize.
The meeting had a door prize which was won by Marcia Lassiter.
The next meeting will take place on November 6th and there will be a Christmas party on December 4th.
The meeting adjourned.
According to Judy Heckman, a member for many years, the Quilter’s Gulf has a total of 35-40 members and this is the fourth show at Hempstead Hall. Previously it has been housed in the Old Citizen’s Bank, a couple of different churches and in Old Washington where it outgrew it space.
