Great fun at fall fest

PRESCOTT – If anything, the weather for Saturday’s Fall Festival might have been too perfect.

This was only because the sun was extremely bright and glaring all day. It was clear and cool, with the temperature warming up nicely as the day progressed. This made it easy for those competing in athletic events to stay comfortable. The golden pumpkin was hidden in plain sight. However, this didn’t make it easy to find and there was no thinning as the pumpkin hadn’t been found as the festival was getting close to its conclusion. A fourth clue had to be given before it was found at the funnel cake stand.

The vendors were kept busy from the moment they opened for the day. The Prescott High School cheerleader face painting booth was swamped most of the day, as was the Bank of Delight’s booth, giving out free coffee. When it came to entertainment, there was plenty to be had, starting with students with Dancetastics strutting their stuff on stage. However, the same couldn’t be said for the karaoke competition . It must be remembered, though, karaoke is jokingly referred to as being Japanese for those who can’t sing. Another new event, which proved to be quite popular, was the hubby calling contest. Women took to the stage and called their husbands, children and pets, with Cherie Wilson tabbed the winner. The White Dog Band took to the stage afterwards and played until pageants started at 3 p.m.

Three competed in the infant miss division with Elizabeth Rosenbaum winning and Brielle Munn first runner up. Tiny Mister was won by Carter Jordan. Elora Northrup was crowned tiny miss, while Mariah Washington took the title of little miss with Ealin Bennett first runner up. Jayton Box was named little mister. Young miss went to Aliza Thompson, while Kallie Lewis was crowned Miss Fall Fest. Madison Horton was first runner up.

As always, the Fall Festival is sponsored by the Prescott-Nevada County Chamber of Commerce.
