Hope Schools Hold Multicultural Event

Hope Public Schools had a multicultural event at the High School on Thursday afternoon. A group of students performed the song, “We are the World” and were applauded for their efforts. There were also learning stations on Philippine culture, ethnic dishes in other countries, about Spain, money around the world, using chopsticks, dia de los muertos, totem animals, and a table for people to sample Asian snacks. The station with the chops had a tic tac toe game using chopsticks and a world map to color. The Philippine station had model “jeepneys” which are extended jeeps designed from the jeeps the U.S. Army brought over during World War 2. These jeeps are used for transportation. on the table about the totem animal, elementary school students wrote about which animal they identify with and why.
