Hope School Board

The Hope School Board met in the High School Auditorium on Monday night (11-13). After the approval of the minutes and the expenditures was the superintendent’s report.
The first item on the Superintendent’s Report was Carter Wilcox’s presentation to the School Board. He is a 9-year old third grader who founded the “Carter’s Class” campaign which is working to help students get books from the annual Scholastic Book Fair. Carter thanked Dr. Crossley and the School Board for allowing him to present to them.  The effort raised $2,000 in less than a month. This amount was their goal and the amount will be matched by Scholastic. Locations to contribute include Tailgater’s, the Cleaners, Hope Floral, Farmer’s Bank and the Bank of Delight.  Dr. Crossley asked Carter who he had received a special letter of commendation. As well as other people, former President Bill Clinton recognized his efforts.
After Carter spoke Community recognitions were presented. These included Marlon Varela at Clinton for being an exceptional student and the Wilcox Family (Carter’s Class) for raising money to ensure every student at Clinton Primary receives a book from the book fair next year.  Genesis Tapia at Beryl Henry was recognized for greeting with a smile and being a model student. Laura Gray was recognized for advocating for the students and loving them unconditionally.  Ramsey Beck at the High School is known by his peers as being a good, intelligent, helpful and nice student.  Farmer’s Bank was recognized for their continued support of the HHS National Honor Society.
Veronica Aguilar from Pre-K was said to have a contagious personality, so upbeat and kind and being a support in her child’s classroom, as well as the community.
The High School presented the first nine week’s of data. The new superintendent’s evaluation tool was talked about as well. There was also a student hearing and a personnel packet.
The meeting adjourned.
