Marks Found Guilty of 2022 Murder in Hope

On May 3rd, 2022 Hope Police Department officers responded to reports of a person being shot in the 600 block of South Walnut Street. Upon arriving at the scene, officers discovered a 16 year old male subject, suffering from a gunshot wound. The juvenile died a short time later as a result of the gunshot wound.
On May 5th, 2022, Bryceston Marks, 18 at the time, of Bryant, AR turned himself into investigators after a warrant for his arrest was issued, charging him with 1st Degree Murder.
On April 15th, 2024, Marks, now 20, appeared before 8th Judicial District North Circuit Judge Duncan Culpepper. Marks pled guilty to Murder 1st Degree and was sentenced to forty (40) years in the Arkansas Department of Corrections. Marks also pled guilty and was sentenced for the following charges. Unlawful Discharge of a Firearm from a Vehicle, two counts (20 years on each count), Terroristic Act, two counts (20 years on each count), and Aggravated Assault, two counts (6 years on each count).
The case was prosecuted by the office of the 8th Judicial District North Prosecuting Attorney, Ben Hale.
