Weather doesn’t halt Fair Hills VFD fundraiser

PRESCOTT – Rain kept some from attending the Fair Hills Volunteer Fire Department’s fundraiser Saturday, but those who came had a good time.

Because of the weather, the bounce houses were cancelled. Still, there was plenty to do in the Potlatch Building. Chicken, hamburgers and hot dogs were sold in a package with cookies, chips and a drink. The silent auction items were looked over by everyone, with those bidding keeping a vigil on their bids, checking to make sure they hadn’t been outbid, or to make another bid to get what they wanted.

Rada Cutlery and Permanent Jewelry were on hand, giving folks a chance to examine their wares. Smokey the Bear was also there to remind people to be careful with fires. Those present enjoyed having their picture taken with Smokey as well.

However, the most popular portion of the day was a pie in the face. Visitors could “vote” for who they wanted to see get smacked in the face with a whipped cream pie by making donations. It wasn’t even close as Austin Beavers was the winner, getting the pie from his wife.
