Jimmy England

Jimmy Warren England, aged 87, passed away on June 9, 2024. He was proceeded in death by sisters Mary Ann Smith, Edna Laumann, and brothers Travis England, Joe England, and Cecil England. Jimmy was a beloved brother, uncle, and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Jimmy was born on May 9, 1937 in Hope, AR to Joe and Mary England. Jimmy was the fourth of ten siblings. Jimmy attended Southern State College (SAU) before being drafted into the Army in 1960. Upon returning from service, Jimmy completed his Bachelors in Biology from Henderson University and later a Masters. Jimmy became a high school teacher at Hope High School, where he taught from 1966 to 1993.

More than anything, Jimmy was a devoted family and church member. Jimmy was incredibly supportive of his siblings, nieces, and nephews. Jimmy was ever present to offer kindness and examples of faithfulness. Jimmy was a deacon in Shover Springs church for 61 years. He was also caretaker of Shover Springs cemetery for many years. In his free time, Jimmy an avid gardener.

Jimmy is survived by his sisters Laura Sue England, Ida Nell Thomas, Judy Ezell (Charles), one brother Bryan England, sister-in-law Claudia England, and a host of nieces/nephews, great nieces/nephews, and great great nieces/nephews. His memory will be cherished by all who knew him.

Visitation will be held at Brazzel Funeral Home from 6-8 pm Thursday June 13, 2024. Funeral services will be held at Shover Springs Baptist Church on Friday June 14, 2024 at 10am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Shover Springs Baptist Church.
