Jackson Ferrell Endowed Engineering Scholarship announced

LITTLE ROCK – Jim Jackson and Lisa Ferrell have announced the first recipient of the Jackson Ferrell Endowed Engineering Scholarship at the University of Alabama.  Jim is a native of Columbus and attended school in Saratoga and Hope.

The Jackson Ferrell scholarship is dedicated to supporting first-generation Arkansans pursuing an engineering degree at the University of Alabama. Jim and Lisa both served on the University of Alabama’s Parents Advisory Council for three years and witnessed firsthand the positive impact scholarships had on students. This scholarship aims to assist students on their academic journey and alleviate some of the financial burdens associated with higher education. Education holds a special place for Lisa Ferrell, who shared, “The ability to obtain a good education made a big difference in our lives. Jim and I have been impressed with the opportunities that the University of Alabama offers its students, including our son, Luke. We are happy to extend a helping hand to other Arkansans.”

The first recipient of the Jackson Ferrell Endowed Engineering Scholarship is Olivia Campbell, a student from Jasper, Arkansas. Majoring in chemical engineering with a premedical focus, Olivia has distinguished herself not only through her academic achievements but also through her active involvement in the University of Alabama community. She participates in the Army ROTC program, the Army ROTC Color Guard, and the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. Additionally, Ms. Campbell volunteers at DCH Regional Medical Center and Hospice Care of Tuscaloosa, exemplifying her commitment to service.
