One dead, four injured in Monday night I-30 crash

HOPE – One person is dead and four injured in a two-vehicle crash Monday night at the 32-mile marker eastbound on Interstate 30 near Hope. According to the preliminary report from the Arkansas State Police, a 2019 Freightliner tractor-trailer rig and a 2009 Honda were both traveling east. The Freightliner collided with the Honda and both vehicles traveled into the median. The Honda collided then with a group of trees.
The driver of the Honda, Arsenio Maldonado, 44, of Dayton, OH was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured were identified as Oslin Maldonado, 39, Jose Meija, 27, and Fatima Rena, 21, all of Dayton, as well as an unidentified minor in the Honda.
The injured were taken to St. Michael’s Hospital in Texarkana. The truck driver was not injured. The wrecked happened at 8:02 pm. The investigating trooper was Jacob Haynie.
