Watermelon Festival Seed-Spitting Results

The seeds were spit with great dexterity at the Hope Watermelon Festival earlier this month.  According to Seed-spitting chairman Dave Phillips, in the infant to 7 year-old division a young lady named Kiana of Lindale, Texas topped her division with a spit of 12 feet and 3 inches.    James Landes took 2nd place with a 10 feet,10-inch spit and Eve Wharton of Texarkana took third place with a 8-feet 2-inch spit.

   In the age 8 to 17 category, Tyler Atkinson of Conway spit a seed 20 feet 8 inches.  2nd place went to Scarlett W. of Texarkana with a 15 -foot 11-inch spit, and third place was a 15 feet, 1 inch spit by Braden B. of Texarkana.

    In the senior division James Hart of Little Rock took top honors at 26 feet 2 inches.  2nd place went to Bridgette Hale of Texarkana with a spit of 25 feet, 11 inches.  3rd place went to Beth Matney of Rosston who spit a seed 20 feet 10 inches.

    Tyler Atkinson took the grand championship with a spit of 39 feet 11 inches.  2nd place went to James Hart with a spit of 29 feet and 9 inches.  Kiana took 3rd place with distance of 23 feet 6 inches.
