Lower White Oak Lake drawdown set for October

BLUFF CITY – Attention Lower White Oak Lake Community!

Starting in October, Lower White Oak Lake will undergo a 3-foot drawdown. The lake level will begin to rise again in January.
This drawdown is primarily to allow the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission to improve the boat lanes, ensuring safer and more enjoyable navigation for everyone.
But that’s not all! Drawdowns like this also have some fantastic benefits for the lake’s health and ecosystem:
Improved Fish Habitat: The drawdown will help consolidate sediments, creating better spawning areas for fish and promoting healthier fish populations.
Maintenance & Cleanup: The lower water levels allow landowners to work on their docks and pick up any debris.
Aquatic Plant Control: Exposing shallow areas to sunlight and air helps control nuisance aquatic plants, improving water quality and access for all.
We understand that drawdowns can temporarily impact recreational activities, but the long-term benefits are worth it. We appreciate your patience and cooperation during this time.
