Fire at the Junction of Hempstead 16 and 17

Firemen from the DeAnn and Blevins Fire Departments were joined by the Arkansas Forestry Commission in responding to a rural fire northeast of DeAnn Monday (9-9) around 3:15pm.  The fire was at the junction of Hempstead County Roads 16 &  17.  About 6 acres were burned before the fire was contained.

Despite showers last Friday,. much of Hempstead and Nevada County are dangerously dry.  Fire damage will remain high until the area receives significant rain.  There may be some relief for the area with rain a possibility at mid-week.
