Hope Lions Hear From Carter Wilcox About “Nacho Average Trivia Night” to Raise Funds for Carter’s Class

The Hope Lions Club heard a short program from Carter Wilcox on Monday (9-9).  Wilcox has chaired up a program called “Carter’s Class”.  Carter started the program to raise money to purchase books for all Clinton Primary students at the Scholastic Book Fairs held at CPS.  The initial goal was $2,000 and Scholastic pledged to match what was raised.  Ultimately, Carter has raised over $5,000 on his own.  The effort has meant over 300 students have been able to get books from the last two Scholastic Book Fairs and they are working to fund an upcoming one.

As a fundraiser for “Carter’s Class”, a “Nacho Average Trivia Night” is set for September 14th at 6pm at Hempstead Hall.  Cost is $30 per individual or $220 per table.  There’s a $500 cash prize for trivia champs.  There will also be raffles, a nacho & taco bar, and a silent auction.  One of the items is a pair of Ryan Mallett’s cleats which Mark Wilcox is shown holding.  Tickets for the trivia night fundraiser are available at Main Street Cleaners or online at bit.ly/NachoTrivia.

Carter was recently featured in a cover story by “Four States Living” magazine in Texarkana and he is shown holding the magazine with his picture on it.

In addition to Carter’s literacy efforts, he is also a member of the Hope Piranhas swim team.  He told about the team going to Greensboro, North Carolina and showed off some of his medals.
