Nevada School Board

The Nevada School Board met on Thursday (10-24) in the school library. After the call to order, prayer, and pledge, the board reorganization was considered and a motion was made by David Barr to follow the usual procedure for the district. The rotation made Chris Fore the president, Lisa Stardock vice-president, and Matt Herring the Secretary.  The minutes from the previous meeting were reviewed and passed. There was no audience requested with either individuals or groups.
Under reports, it was noted the elementary received the safety grant which has to be completed by December 24th.  It was reported grandparents day had a good turnout. The Atlas scores showed 23% of the students are in need of intensive interventions. The first fall Blue Jays trade day will take place on November 2nd.  The volleyball season wrapped up with the girls falling behind. Basketball season is beginning with 4 games upcoming.
The week of October 28th is red ribbon week with dress up every day. On Monday it will be wear red, on Tuesday twins, Wednesday dress as your favorite celebrity, and Thursday students can wear their Halloween costume. There will be a Haunted Trail this Saturday at White Oak Lake at dark. This will be run by the Future Business Leaders of Arkansas.
It was noted the district has made progress in getting a weight room. Mr. Stockton has been asked to acquire quotes for covered walkways to the bases and car pick-up spot.
The board members should all have the complete policy manual for the district.  A motion to approve the financial statement passed as did a motion to approve the warrants.
The board went into executive session for personnel matters and returned to open session stating no action had been taken.
The next board meeting will be on November 14th at 7 PM. The following meeting will be on December 12th at 5 PM. Both these meetings’ times were adjusted because of the holidays.
