Nevada County part of conservation grant program

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Farmers and landowners in eight South Arkansas counties, including Nevada County, have until December 13, 2024, to apply for assistance to implement conservation activities.

The USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service Regional Conservation Partnership Program offers financial assistance to eligible landowners and operators in fiscal year 2025.

The CDN, Conservation Delivery Network, Open Pine Land Restoration Project is available for signup within Ashley, Bradley, Calhoun, Clark, Drew, Lincoln, Nevada, Ouachita counties and led by the American Bird Conservancy.

Individuals and other entities actively engaged in agricultural production are eligible to participate in RCPP. RCPP offers a continuous application sign-up. However, to be considered for funding, applications must be received by December 13. Applicants can sign up for the 2025 program year by contacting their local USDA NRCS field service center.

All applications will be evaluated for funding based on how well they align with project priorities using procedures to optimize environmental benefits. Applications ranking highest in a funding category will be funded according to priority and is subject to availability of program funds.

This project will greatly improve Forest Health for Wildlife Resources in the West-Gulf Coastal Plain; it will connect and build upon American Bird Conservancy’s successful programs in other landscapes across the U.S. The Lower Mississippi Valley Joint Venture Conservation Delivery Network will deliver this project to advance the recovery of species of conservation concern through use of desired forest conditions management practices for Open Pine habitat. Implementation of integrated vegetation management treatments on corridors connecting public and
private lands will more than double our conservation impact, linking private lands conservation into a restored landscape for the next 10-20 years

Nevada County NRCS programs are serviced in Hope, (870) 777-8800, 300 West Commerce Blvd, Hope.
