Neva Joyce Rowland, age 94, of Fulton went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 11, 2024. Neva was born on February 19, 1930, in Patmos, Arkansas to Henry and Exie McClellan. She is preceded in death by her husband, Jim Rowland, her sister, Denzil Bressinck, her brothers, Cody McClellan and Paul McClellan and daughter-in-law, Mona Rowland.
She is survived by her son, Bill Rowland (Kelly), daughter, Karen Carroll (John), and son Scott Rowland (Traci). She is also loved and adored by 6 grandchildren: Matt Rowland, Hannah Reynolds (Jim), Kristen Davis (Jonnathan), Jenny Davis (Andrew), Trent Rowland (Lacey), and Garrett Rowland as well as 12 great grandchildren: Jay, Charlie, Jack, Nathan, Annie Kate, Lucy, Henry, Isaac, Luke, Bryson, Audrey Kate, and Anna Grace and a number of doting nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Patmos High School in 1948, she attended St. Vincent’s Nursing School. Graduating in 1952 with her nursing degree, she went on to serve as a registered nurse in Hope, Arkansas and later was the school nurse for many years in Saratoga, Arkansas. While proud of her nursing degree, Neva found one of her life’s greatest joys and missions in caring for the broken and hurting. Her skills as a nurse and her compassion for others provided countless opportunities to serve her community and her family, friends, and neighbors. Neva truly regarded others as more important than herself.
Creating a home of love and laughter through open-door hospitality, her house was the gathering place for all. She was a supportive wife and mother, whether it be through the hard years of farm life, cheering on her boys at a baseball game, or ensuring her family was well-fed.
Neva was a committed member of the Hope Church of Christ for over fifty years. She faithfully read her Bible daily. When she could no longer see to read it, she listened to it daily. When she could no longer listen to it, she asked to be read God’s Word. The Word of God was not only a comfort to her, but a necessity for life.
Her children and grandchildren truly rise up and call her blessed for the example of Christian living that she has set for her family and her love for the Lord.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, at 1:00 pm at the Hope Church of Christ.
