Prescott City Council

The Prescott City Council met on Tuesday (2-18) for their February meeting. The meeting was kicked off with a prayer and a pledge. City mowing was discussed. A motion was made/passed to keep the current mower. The city was contacted by Cobblestone, a firm that looks for small towns to build hotels in, about possibly building a hotel in Prescott. The city has tried getting other hotel companies to have locations in Prescott, but there wasn’t enough traffic for them. A probable location for Cobblestone to build a hotel would be near Exit 44 as that exit has more land available. The council approved having the mayor to set up a meeting.
The city has some unused land that they would like used. A Baptist church in Prescott offered $18,000 to buy the land. One council member said that they were going to sell it for $23,000.
The next topic was police vehicles. A police representative noted the vehicles were constantly breaking down. He noted it was a problem and said they need at least three operable vehicles. A suggestion was made to put a new police car in the budget each year. This will be discussed at a budget meeting scheduled for Thursday (2-20) at 9am. After more discussion on the police vehicles, the meeting adjourned.
