Prescott Police Department scam alert

PRESCOTT – SCAM ALERT!!!! SCAM ALERT!!!! It has been reported that there are people calling our citizens and claiming that they are Officers with our department, Nevada County Sheriff’s Department, or even with one of the Federal Departments. These scam artists are stating that they have warrants for your arrest and that if you don’t pay X amount of dollars you’ll be arrested. LET IT BE KNOWN…. NO AGENCY WILL EVER MEET YOU SOMEWHERE TO TAKE MONEY FROM YOU OR ACCEPT ANY TYPE OF PAYMENT VIA GIFT CARDS!!!!

These people will threaten you with arrest and even use names you might be familiar with…. DON’T fall for their scam. If it sounds suspicious then it probably is. When in doubt call the Police Department or Sheriff’s Department or even go to the Departments and speak with someone there wearing the uniform!!! Never give your financial information to these people!!!
