Regional – Murder charge in connection with Lockesburg incident

LOCKESBURG – On March 1st, at 10:38 pm, deputies with the Sevier County Sheriff’s office were dispatched to a residence in Lockesburg per Lockesburg First Responders that were there due to an unresponsive 2-year-old female. Once the deputy arrived and observed injuries consistent with domestic violence a potential suspect identified as 19-year-old Wesley Davis was detained and transported to the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office for further investigation.

The 2-year-old was transported to the Sevier County Medical Center Emergency Room in De Queen and later transferred to Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.
An investigator with the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office interviewed Davis where a confession was (allegedly) given by Davis. Davis was then booked into the Sevier County Jail for Domestic Battering in the first degree (Class Y Felony).

On March 4th, the 2-year-old female succumbed to her injuries and pronounced deceased at 11:28 am at Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock.

After being pronounced deceased, Sevier County Sheriff’s Office investigator has been in contact with Prosecuting Attorney Jana Bradford and an affidavit is currently being updated to Murder in the first degree (Class Y Felony).

The Sevier County Sheriff’s Office would like to give special thanks to Lockesburg First Responders and Southwest EMS for their observance to the injuries and notifying law enforcement immediately.

“We have been delaying a press release due to continuing investigations into obtaining more information from the Arkansas Children’s Hospital in Little Rock who have also been a tremendous help in this ongoing investigation. Our condolences and prayers go out to the family and friends of the 2-year-old female along with all first responders, EMS, law enforcement, Sevier County Medical Staff and Arkansas Children’s Hospital Medical Staff that have been involved in this tragic event,” the Sevier County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement.
