Spring Hill School Board

The Spring Hill School Board met in the elementary conference room on Monday (3-10). The enrollment for the elementary and high school are the same as last month. The report cards will go out for the elementary school will go out next week. Spring break will be the following week starting the 24th. Kindergarten roundup will run from April 1st to the 3rd. There are 16 students currently for pre-K and 4 on the waiting list.
For high school, a committee was formed about cheerleading.
For the teachers with growth in testing, there will be a small bonus.
Baseball and softball season has started.
On March 20th eighth-grade students will shadow the business of their choice for the day.
Cheer tryouts will happen just before spring break. The committee formed about cheerleading unanimously recommended amending the bylaws so that 7th graders are allowed to join with the junior high team. Currently there isn’t a separate 7th grade team. A motion was made and passed by the board to allow them to cheer along with 8th and 9tn grades.
Gallagher Insurance at a cost of $7,930 was approved.
Southwest Coop Software costing $5,898.99 was approved.
JPRO Diagnostic Software for the school busses was approved by the board. This software will cost $3,500 per year for the computer and online mechanic the first year and the same amount the next year with a software upgrade and the online mechanic. If the board so choses, the following year they could drop the online mechanic for a savings of $2,200. Coach Whatley brought this request to the board.
A motion passed to renew all of the contracts of classified and certified staff.
The resignation of Miss Chelsea Collins was accepted so she could spend time with her family. Collins expressed her pleasure in working with the district and will be missed.
The school choice applications were approved for all of the applicants with 6 of the students already with the district. There is space for all the students.
The meeting went into executive session to discuss the Superintendent’s Contract. After executive session, the Board voted to extend the superintendent’s contract making it into a 2-year contract.
