Nevada County Celebrates Arbor Day

The Prescott Economic Development Office sponsored an Arbor Day tree planting at the old armory in Prescott. The tree planted is an oak tree. The schools had an Arbor Day drawing contest as part of the celebration.  Among those at the tree planting ceremony were Ivory Curry, Patricia Roberts, Tara Santifer, Howard Austion, and Mayor Terry Oliver.

An Arbor Day coloring contest was held in the Nevada County Schools.  At Nevada, 3rd grader Maddison McBride took first place and a $20 Sonic card.  2nd place went to Samantha McKamie who won a $15 Sonic card.  3rd place went to Kairi Schweitzer who won a $10 Sonic card.

Prescott 3rd grade winners included Laynie Shelton in 1st place who won a $20 Sonic card, Jakob Faulker in 2nd place who won a $15 Sonic card, and Kingsley Sanford in 3rd place to win $10 Sonic card.

Mayor Terry Oliver signed a proclamation declaring March 20th as “Arbor Day for Prescott”.
