Dr. Jonathan Crossley one of six finalists for Pulaski County superintendent

LITTLE ROCK – Hope School Superintendent Dr. Jonathan Crossley is one of six finalists to be superintendent of the Pulaski County Special School District in central Arkansas. He is scheduled to be interviewed in a special school board meeting Thursday, April 10th.
Before coming to Hope, Dr. Crossley was Asst. Superintendent of the Pine Bluff SD (July ’19 – June ’21), Principal in the Little Rock School District (July ’15 – June ’18), and Teacher/Coach/Literacy Facilitator at Palestine Wheatley School District (Aug. ’10 – June ’15).
During a special board meeting on January 2, 2025, the Pulaski County Special School District Board of Education and then superintendent Dr. Charles McNulty agreed to conclude their relationship.
The board of education met in executive session for about an hour to discuss “employment of an employee in a public office.” Upon conclusion of the executive session, action was taken to vote on a separation agreement. Dr. McNulty resigned from his position as superintendent effective January 2, 2025. He will continue to receive payment for the remainder of his contract which ends on June 30, 2025.
The board entered a second executive session which lasted approximately two hours. Upon conclusion of the second session, Dr. Jerry Guess was named interim superintendent. Dr. Guess previously worked for PCSSD when the Arkansas Department of Education appointed him to the position. He served as superintendent from 2011 to 2017. Dr. Guess graduated from Chidester High School. His career began as a high school English teacher at Grady in 1978. He later served 33 years in various roles with the Camden Fairview School District, including as superintendent the last 13 years he was there.
