Ella Marie Cheatham-Caple, 89, of Washington

Ella Marie Cheatham-Caple passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025, at her residence in Washington, Arkansas. She was the 11th child born to Ben and Stella Cheatham on June 9, 1935. Ella was a graduate of Lincoln High School in Washington, Arkansas. She married Ellis Caple and moved to San Antonio, Texas where they made their home for 50 years. Ella left Texas and returned to her roots in Washington to be with her beloved family after her husband passed away. Ella had a heart of service which was shown in her work as a Certified Nursing Assistant. She was a faithful member at New Hope Baptist Church in San Antonio, Texas under the leadership of Rev. J. Joubert. During her time there she served in many capacities. When she relocated back to Washington, she joined St. Paul CME Church under the leadership of Rev. Thomas Jones where she also served in many capacities. Ella loved her church and her family. That love was equally shared by her family and all that knew her. She is gone from our presence but will live in our hearts. Ella was preceded in death by her parents Ben and Stella Cheatham. Her husband Ellis Caple; three brothers Johnny, Dallas and Ora; seven sisters Maybell, Joanna, Mary Lee, Earlean, Rosie, Ethel Ruth and Pearlean.

She leaves to cherish a special niece, Janet Conway that cared for her until her passing, a host of nieces, nephews and friends which includes her close friend Ira Thomas.

Mrs. Caple’s funeral service was held April 5th at St. Paul CME, Washington, Arkansas, with Rev. Thomas Jones as the Officiant and Eulogist. Interment followed at the Washington Cemetery.
