William Don Wesson

William Don Wesson, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, at the age of 78. Born on January 23, 1947, in Prescott, Don lived a life that brought joy and laughter to all who had the pleasure of knowing him. His departure leaves an irreplaceable void in the hearts of many, but his spirit will live on through the countless stories he told, the laughter he shared, and the love he spread.
Don was the son of Edna Mae Smart Wesson and Leonard Marvin Wesson. He grew up surrounded by family and developed a passion for life that would characterize him throughout his years. As a child, he sang Gospel music with his cousins and siblings, fostering a love for music that would remain a cherished part of his identity.
Throughout his life, Don was known for his unique personality and infectious sense of humor. His loud, hearty laugh was unforgettable, often turning heads and bringing smiles to those around him. He had a way with words, often employing his own special sayings, like his memorable quip about having “enough makeup on to choke a mule.” These humorous expressions were a hallmark of his character and a reminder of the joy he brought to everyday life.
Don’s professional life was as diverse as his interests. He served as a police officer in Nevada and Clark County, and he was known to work at the Prescott Police Department among others, where he made many lifelong friends. He also dedicated time to the Brazzell-Cornish Funeral Home. Don later became the General Manager at Contract Brake Service in Arkadelphia, and he spent many years running storage sales, sharing stories that captivated anyone who would listen.
Family was the cornerstone of Don’s life.
He is survived by his Brothers Jim Wesson and Bud Wesson, his first wife Barbara Hubbard and several children: Donna Carroll and her husband Tim, William Wesson and wife Susan Wesson, Janet Wesson, Danielle Wenneberg and husband Ross Wenneberg, Shannon Hollis, Crystal Hollis, Keiyana Hollis, and Keisha Hollis. Beloved nephew Ron Summerhill. He was a proud grandfather to 17 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 26 great-grandchildren.
Don was preceded in death by his brother Herrell Wesson, beloved Joann Wesson, Glenda Wesson, his grandson, Nickalus Baird, and his parents.
In addition to his family, Don had a soft spot for animals, particularly his dogs Luke and Violet whom he often sang to and hand-fed every day. His kindness extended to all living beings, and it was this compassionate spirit that touched the lives of many.
As we mourn the loss of this remarkable man, we extend our gratitude to Sandra at Hospice and Dr. Faro his doctor for over a decade for their unwavering dedication and compassion towards Don. They provided comfort to him and his family, ensuring he felt loved and cared for.
And while we will miss him dearly, we take solace in the memories we shared and the profound impact he had on our lives. Don Wesson will forever be remembered as a storyteller, a beacon of laughter, and a loving patriarch whose legacy will carry on through his family for generations to come.
