Meneria Dean Dixon-Morrison
Before Dean was conceived in her mother’s womb, Jesus went and prepared a place for her. He promised He would come again to take her to Himself, that where He is, she would be also. On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, around 5:30 p.m., Jesus returned to Meneria Dean Dixon-Morrison’s earthly dwelling as He promised, to take her to her heavenly home, that where He is, Dean is also.
Meneria Dean, the first-born child of Jessie and Era Carrigan Dixon was born April 30, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois. Although Mr. Jessie and Mrs. Era were the birth parents, everybody knew that Dean really belonged to her doting grandparents, William (Jack) and Geneva. She was their daughter! Dean was the sister of five sisters, Wanda Faye Watts, Pheneria Jean, Kathleen (Kat), Ida Mae and Stephanie; and five brothers, William Ed (Brother), Johnny (Bo), Michael (Mike), Kenneth, and Jessie (Boo).
Dean confessed her faith in Christ at an early age, joining Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. H.R. Dockery. She loved the Lord and worked tirelessly as an usher, choir member, chair of the culinary department and wherever needed.
Dean graduated from Blevins Training School in 1969. She was active in many school activities, enjoying her time as a Panther. She made lasting friendships that continued until her passing.
Dean was a loving wife and mother, homemaker, business owner- one of the first soul food restaurants in Fayetteville, Arkansas-Mama Dean’s. The community loved her food, and she loved cooking for them. The Arkansas Razorbacks waited diligently for Mama Dean to show up to feed the team. She gave such generous portions that everyone left knowing they would have enough for two days. This was a major contribution to everyone who knew and loved her. Dean’s smile lit up the crowd wherever she went and will be dearly missed.
Dean is preceded in death by her first-born son, Thomas Eddie Morrison, Jr., grandparents, William (Jack) and Geneva Carrigan: parents, Jessie and Era Dixon; sisters, Pheneria McLay, and Stephanie Dixon; and brothers, William Ed Dixon, Michael Dixon, and Kenneth Dixon.
Dean is survived by her husband of 53 years, Thomas Eddie Morrison, Sr., son, Terry Morrison, daughter, Tameka Nicole Morrison; granddaughters, Adrianna Morrison, Brittany Henry, Cierra Henry; grandsons Tarrion Morrison, Jackson and Charlie Morrison, three sisters, Wanda Faye (Aubrey) Watts, Kathleen (Roger) Batson, Ida Mae (Vance) Williamson; brothers, and Johnny (Fern) Dixon, Jessie (Rose) Dixon, and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends.
