UAHT Chancellor Dr. Christine Holt named Vice-Chancellor of California system

FRESNO, CA – University of Arkansas Hope-Texarkana Chancellor Dr. Christine Holt has been named Vice-Chancellor of State Center Community College District (SCCCD) based in Fresno, CA. The system is composed of four colleges in the Central Valley of California:
*Fresno City College, established in 1910, enrolls in excess of 36,800 students and offers more than 250 majors and certificates,
*Reedley College, established in 1926, is located in Reedley (approximately 25 miles southeast of Fresno) and enrolls approximately 13,000 students in a variety of courses and degree programs in occupational education and the arts and sciences.
*Clovis Community College was established in 1992 as a center and became a college in 2015. It serves more than 13,100 students and provides comprehensive educational opportunities for basic skills development, associate degrees, certificates for workforce development, and transfer degrees.
*Madera Community College is the newest Community College in California and only higher education institution in Madera County. It offers 97 degrees and certificates to nearly 9,400 students. The Madera Community College Center in Oakhurst is located 14 miles south of the entrance to Yosemite and offers programs in general education for transfer and two-year degrees.
*In addition, State Center offers occupational and technical training and administers Apprenticeships through the Division of Educational Services. Programs and training include – welding, phlebotomy, human resource specialist, maintenance mechanic, and other technology-based apprenticeships.
The State Center Community College District’s board unanimously approved the recommendation last night (May 6) of their Search Advisory Committee from a pool of 18 applicants from across California and the nation.
Dr. Holt has been serving at the Chancellor for the University of Arkansas, Hope – Texarkana since 2021. Prior to joining the University of Arkansas, Dr. Holt served in the University of Missouri system for three years as the Chief of Staff supporting the Chancellor and the President, one year as the interim Chief of Diversity Officer, and two years as the Associate Provost. Dr. Holt also previously served as the Dean of Academic Administration for Northern Virginia and a practicing attorney in Cleveland, Ohio.
Dr. Holt earned her Doctorate in Business Administration from the University of Missouri, St. Louis, her Juris Doctorate from the Cleveland Marshall College of Law at Cleveland State University, her Master of Arts in Adult Education Administration from East Carolina University, and her Bachelor of Arts in Business from Capital University in Columbus, Ohio.
Dr. Holt was appointed in 2022 by former Arkansas Governor Hutchinson to serve on the board of the Criminal Justice Institute. She also served on the boards for the following organizations: Arkansas Division of Higher Education Committee from 2022-2024, Hope/Hempstead County Chamber of Commerce, Capital University Board of Trustees, Regional Economic Development, Inc. (AR-TX REDI Texarkana), Texarkana Chamber of Commerce, and Lions Club (Hope, AR).
