Hempstead County Quorum Court

The Hempstead County Quorum Court met on Thursday (6-26). After a prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance, there was a roll call. All were present. There was a motion to approve the last meeting’s minutes. This was approved.
Two resolutions were approved. They are as follows…
1.A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE COUNTY JUDGE OF HEMPSTEAD COUNTY, TO APPLY FOR A GRANT ON BEHALF OF HEMPSTEAD COUNTY
The Quorum Court decided that Hempstead County meets the requirements for the Arkansas Community Assistance Grant Program. They plan on applying for said grant, to repair the roof of the hospital.
2. A RESOLUTION TO RECOGNIZE THE ARKANSAS 250 COMMISSION AS IT BEGINS ITS WORK TO CELEBRATE ARKANSAS’S RICH TWO-HUNDRED-FIFTY-YEAR HISTORY FROM THE SIGNING OF THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE ON JULY 4TH, 1776, THROUGH JULY 4TH 2026.
July 4th, 2026 marks the 250th year of America’s signing of the Declaration of Independence. Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders created the Arkansas 250 Commission to Plan Arkansas’s celebration activities for the celebration.
The J.P.’s approved both resolutions.
The JP’s approved three ordinances.
Ordinance #2025-6 dealt with the Communications Facility and Equipment budget. Ordinance #2025-7 dealt with the transfer of some county property to the city of Hope. Ordinance #2025-8 was a transfer ordinance within the Prosecuting Attorney’s office.
Teresa Smith was present to discuss the work FEMA did with the storms in April.
Anna Powell was present and gave an update on what has been going on with
the Hempstead County Economic Development Corporation. The meeting then adjourned.
