HOPE – On March 31, the Hope Bobcats attempted to defend their home turf as the 11-2 De Queen Leopards came to Legion Field. Unfortunately, the Hope Bobcats could not get their defense or offense started as they played out two ill-fated games, ending 14-1, and then 17-3.

In these two games, the Bobcats struggled to find form while amazing performances from Leopard ace #2 Konnor Shelton, #18 Rylan Pickett, and a 2 RBI home run #20 Logan Pertrishen kept De Queen in full control.

In light of this otherwise dull double-header, Catcher/Pitcher Sam Johnson smashed a 3 RBI triple late into game two to bring a flare of excitement to the bleachers. Flashes of solid defense also arose from outfielder Donny Reeves, infielder Cayden Haywood, first baseman Drake Mathis, and Austin Courtney, who played center field in game two.

Although having a slow start to the week, the Bobcats will have a golden opportunity to redeem themselves in yet another hometown showdown against the Fouke Panthers. Their rematch against the Panthers will be played on April 2nd, at 5:00 pm.
