Prescott Community Meeting Draws Good Crowd

A group of concerned citizens met Thursday (3-2) at A Venue for You on Ozan Street in Prescott.  The meeting was specifically held to discuss ways to improve the downtown area of Prescott.  Those attending saw a slide presentation by Kayla Hartsfield from Glenwood.  She showed pictures of downtown Glenwood before and after revitalization and renovation.  Hartsfield noted the Glenwood group has taken advantage of grants and help from the community.

The group also heard from Beckie Moore of the Hope Downtown Network.  Moore noted downtown Hope had a 65% vacancy rate but now occupancy is up considerably and new features to downtown Hope such as the pocket park have been added.  Moore noted there is lots of interest from businesses who would like to locate downtown.

Julie Oliver, Mary Godwin,  and Valerie Cobb are all members of “Project Plan and Goal” and each one spoke about what the community can do to help these downtown revitalization efforts.
