Frances Avery Ross

Frances Avery Ross of Little Rock, formerly of Prescott and Emmet, went to the be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, April 6, 2026. She was born on June 30, 1936, in Prescott, AR to Ernest and Jessie Avery.

Frances graduated from Blevins Public Schools and received her college degree from East Texas University at Texarkana. She spent more than 40 years dedicated to educating young people, serving as a teacher, secretary and bookkeeper for the Emmet Public Schools.

She was a member of the former Midway United Methodist Church and was currently an associate member of Pulaski Heights United Methodist Church.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents Ernest and Jessie Avery, her husband and best friend of more than 66 years, Dr. Gene M. Ross, brothers Harold, Byron and Donald Avery and a sister, Inez Avery Clark.

Frances is survived by her son Mike Ross (Krystal) of Little Rock; two grandchildren, Sydney Ross Pack (Drew) of Pittsburgh, PA, Alex Ross and their mother Holly Ross, three step-grandchildren, Christopher Thrailkill, Spencer Thrailkill Miller (Preston), and Travis Thrailkill, all of Mena. She is also survived by two step-great grandchildren, Presley Thrailkill of Little Rock and Piper Thrailkill of Mena. She is also survived by a sister-in-law Shelby Avery, and a number of nieces and nephews.

Her life focus was serving others and sharing her deep belief and faith in God. She loved her family and church, where she played the piano for many years.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 2 pm at Brazzel-Cornish Funeral Home Chapel in Prescott. Visitation will occur prior to the funeral beginning at 1:30 pm. Burial will follow in the Midway Cemetery near Prescott.
