Ronnie “Brother Ron” Kent Eldridge passed away on April 5, 2026, in his home surrounded by his daughter Tammy Smith Johnson, his grandson Bradley Smith (Meredith), his granddaughter who also doubled as his loving caregiver Emily Smith, and his grandson Steven Eldridge.
Ronnie was born on June 30, 1939, in Benton, Illinois, to Helen Marie and John Robert Eldridge.
He worked for many years in the steel industry and enjoyed spending his free time woodworking and fishing.
Ronnie was a devoted husband of 40+ years to the late Constance “Connie” Eldridge, father, grandfather, and afternoon nap connoisseur. As a pastor and devout Christian, he spent the better part of his life spreading the word of God in various churches as well as in the community. His role as “Bro. Ron” earned him a village of friends and loved ones and allowed him to outwardly express his deep devotion to God and those he loved.
Ronnie’s family would like to recognize the numerous people who have surrounded him in his final days and poured love, prayer, and comfort into their family upon his passing. They could never thank you all enough for everything you have done and continue to do for them.
The family would also like to express their thanks and gratitude to Dierksen Hospice and MaKayla King for the wonderful care and support they have provided Ron.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you donate to the church of your choosing.
A Celebration of Ronnie and Connie’s lives will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, at 3:00 P.M. at Springhill Christian Church with Bro. Revel Kidd officiating.
Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service from 2:00- 3:00 P.M.
