Hope narrowly falls to Camden Fairview in high-scoring thriller

CAMDEN – Coming off of their third win of the season, the Hope Bobcats took the road to Camden on Tuesday, April 7th, to play the Camden Fairview Cardinals. In an all offense showdown, the Bobcats barely lost, losing 12-11.

With no scoring through the first inning and the top of the next, the Cardinal’s offense erupted with eight runs in the bottom of the second. In response however, the Bobcats tallied six of their own in the top of the third. Camden scored two more runs in the bottom of the same inning, before Hope once again responded with five more in the fourth to score their final runs of the game. With one more final offensive push from the home team, the Cardinals scored their last two runs of the game in the bottom of the fourth, retaking their lead one last time, and holding the game to a stalemate past that point, ending 12-11 Camden.

Although not putting up much defense, the Bobcat’s offense shined with Jaiden Brown, Sam Johnson, Israel Juarez, and Drake Mathis all showing up at the plate. Sam Johnson and Drake Mathis both had two hits with Sam driving in two RBIs and two runs himself, while Drake drove in another RBI. Leadoff hitter Jaiden Brown delivered a double and scored a run while third baseman Israel Juarez produced one more hit and drove in an RBI and a run himself.

The Bobcats will now play a two-day sprint, facing the Ashdown Panthers on the road, on Thursday, April 9th, at 5:00pm, and then rematching the Cardinals at home on April 10th, at 5:00 pm.
