Train Day 2026 Held in Downtown Hope

HOPE, AR — Train Day 2026 was held in downtown Hope on Saturday, May 2, offering residents and visitors an afternoon of railroad themed activities, food, and family entertainment centered around the historic Hope Depot Museum.

Throughout the afternoon, attendees could stroll downtown while enjoying the smell of barbecue and the sounds of music and conversation. A merchandise booth was set up near the depot, where visitors could browse Train Day 2026 T shirts for purchase and pick up free children’s AMTRAK Junior Conductor’s Guides. Model train displays and other railroad themed exhibits attracted interest from guests of all ages, including a model train on display at the Revival Rack.

The event featured family friendly entertainment, including live music and a designated children’s activity area. Activities and performances designed for younger attendees helped ensure the event remained accessible for families.

One of the main attractions of the day was the BBQ Rib Cook Off, with smokers lined along both sides of Main Street. Contestants cooked throughout the day before winners were announced. Outcast Barbecue received the grand prize, followed by Allen’s Barbecue in second place and Lane Parkinson in third place.

Despite its growth over the years, Train Day continues to celebrate Hope’s railroad heritage and its role in the city’s development. The Hope Depot Museum once again served as the central gathering point and visual anchor for the event.

Train Day 2026 was organized with support from local tourism and city partners and benefited from favorable weather and steady attendance. Organizers expressed appreciation for the volunteers, businesses, and community members who contributed to the event. From downtown to THE HUB, it was another successful Train Day. A day celebrating the railroad and its influence yesterday, today, and tomorrow on the economic development and travel needs of its residents and visitors to Hope and beyond.
