
HOPE – Hope City Board met Tuesday night for their second May meeting. Following the opening activities of the meeting, the public meeting was suspended, and a Sanitation Bond Ordinance Public Hearing was convened. Taylor Marshall, bond counsel with the Friday Farm, was present to explain the ordinance.
Revenue produced would go to improvements to the system, including the construction of a new Class 4 landfill cell, acquisition of vehicles and equipment and improvements necessary to remediate contaminants.
Following the presentation and discussion, the Board unanimously voted to authorize the issuance of the bonds, along with an emergency clause.
Bill O’Hare with audio-visual firm Willtech, joined the meeting to discuss their preliminary audio-visual proposal for the new Recreation Center.
Hempstead County Economic Development Corporation made a request to the City Board to use a portion of normally restricted Hope Airport property for a wild game fundraiser in October as part of their 40th Anniversary Celebration. Mayor Don Still noted that some of the attendees representing local industry would be flying in to the airport to attend. The event will use tents. The Board approved.
The Board voted to increase the Diamond Bank Credit Card limit from $15,000 to $25,000. Only department heads have the cards. The Board approved.
City Manager JR Wilson updated on roof damage from the recent hailstorm. Wilson said totals should be known in the next few days
